My Story

Hi

I am running the London Marathon on 23 April 2023 for the Alzheimer's Society.  Many thanks for visiting my fund raising page.

Someone develops dementia every three minutes.  It is set to be the UK's biggest killer and, at the moment, there is sadly no cure.  It is a disease which has affected our family, as it has so many others, my mother being diagnosed around 4 years ago.

The Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity, providing information and support, funding research and helping to create a more dementia-friendly society.

Having just hit a half century, I thought it was time for my first road marathon to support a cause which is very close to us.

As an extra incentive, if you would like to post an estimated time in the comments on this page (or email me - [email protected]) I would be delighted to send a bottle of champagne for the closest guess.    My last (and only) race marathon time was 8:32 (an off road one with some mountains and plenty of walking!), but I am aiming for an improvement this time!

Your support would be very much appreciated.

With very many thanks and best wishes

Andrew
