My Story

'The NHS will last as long as there are people prepared to fight for it', Aneurin Bevan, its architect and champion, is quoted saying. I'm going to fight with my feet, and run for it.

I love running, but I love the NHS more.

They are there for us, and the people we love. Motivated by public service and having put themselves at considerable risk to provide care during the pandemic, I want to help them at a time when they are under unprecedented pressure, underfunded and under often cynical attack.

I've got a lot from running with my club, Herne Hill Harriers, and seen what our fabulous new, local Tooting Run Club can give to a community. I've also been very lucky healthwise, but UCLH has helped me, and the NHS has in just the last year saved the lives of people I love. Supporting the NHS now is a show of committment that we can and should look after each other as a society, equally and regardless of who we are. Please give what you can as a sign of faith in a future in which we continue to care.

Best wishes, Andrew
