My Story

I am running to support the wonderful African Palliative Care Association (APCA), a non-profit organisation working to reduce unnecessary suffering and pain from life-limiting illnesses, by improving access to quality palliative care for all African citizens, regardless of their socio-economic status or the nature of their illness.

Palliative care focuses on providing relief of physical, psychological, and spiritual pain, therefore allowing patients to live full, rich, and dignified lives from the point of diagnosis to the end of life.

The burden of disease and the need for palliative care in Africa is huge. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 70% of the world's deaths from HIV/AIDS and non-communicable diseases (such as cancer) occur in Africa. However, access to palliative care services remains limited, with less than 10% of patients in Africa receiving the care they need.

Please help me in supporting patients and families through the development and provision of palliative care services across Africa.

Thank you for your support!
