My Story
In April 2023 I will be taking on the London Marathon and running 26.2 miles to raise awareness for Cardiomyopathy UK in memory of my friend Adam Green.
Adam was a larger-than-life character whose witty sense of humour meant there was never a dull moment. Adam studied Law at Sheffield Hallam University and wanted to make a difference but sadly didn’t get to finish his final year.
Adam passed away last August at the young age of 20 due to Hereditary Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy which is one of the biggest silent killers in young adults.
Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle and is thought to effect 1 in 500 people in the UK today. People who have been diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy can live with the help of medication, treatments, and surgeries but unfortunately Adam was never diagnosed. With your help I aim to raise awareness of the disease to hopefully prevent the chances of this happening to somebody else’s family.
To kickstart my training I will be flying to Peru to take on a 5-day hike to Machu Picchu although I won’t be running that one! I am determined to run this marathon to the best of my ability and hopefully raise lots of money for a very worthy cause.
Adam would have loved to have known that he has helped others so please donate whatever you can, even if it’s just the price of a coffee and let’s help fight the disease together.
