Christina Hubbard: The Lydia Project

My Story

Getting out of an abusive relationship, being financially independent, and creating a life where you are free from oppression is difficult for women in any country, and I can't imagine how difficult it must be for those in countries that do not value education for girls and instead endorse arranged marriages. When I saw International Needs development, The Lydia Project, I knew that it represented a cause that I wanted to support. Their work in offering vocational training and education to women in countries that don't see women as equals is a cause that I am passionate about. I've run lots of races but never run for charity and never run a road marathon. It was an honour when International Needs offered me a place to represent them and feel like I am making a tiny contribution towards helping the world begin to treat women as equals. I'd be very grateful if you could sponsor me and support them in giving women in Nepal and around the world the tools they need to gain their independence.
