I’M RUNNING A MARATHON!!

My Story

For those who know me know that I don't run and I actively avoid the gym. End of September 22 I got coerced into going to a local park run.. 5km, easy right? Well I managed to run it without stopping in a not so terrible time of 32 mins (this was after not running for 2 years). In a moment of madness I decided that I could run a marathon, I mean.. I done the park run 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was fortunate enough to gain a charity spot with SSAFA, a trusted source of practical, emotional, and financial support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. In 2021 their trained teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 66,000 people, from Second World War veterans to those who have served in more recent conflicts, or currently serving (both regulars and reserves).

When signing up to SSAFA, I was asked if I was running in memory of someone. The answer was easy, my old running buddy who used to drag me out on long runs in our college days, the guy who inspired me to join the RAF and the guy who tragically lost his life on 4th April 2016, SAC T Pattison 💙
