My Story

I am running in the London Marathon on 23rd April. The cause I am running for is Chance Changing Lives. This charity is based in Crewe and supports homeless people by providing hot food in a safe environment. It also runs a supermarket providing low cost food for people who are struggling to make ends meet.

I am a trustee and have been impressed by the work being done, mostly by volunteers,to improve the lives of people working in very difficult circumstances.

CCL is helping fight homelessness, poverty and hunger.

A bit about me. I started running in September 2021 at the age of 63. Until May 2022 the furthest I had run was around 5 miles. I felt fortunate, shocked and not a little scared to find I had a place in this year's marathon. 26.2 miles is going to be a real challenge!

Training has taken over my life. At the moment I run 4 days a week, running about 33 miles, this will go up considerably as I near the event. I'm in the gym strength training on two days.

I've given up lots of the things I love; playing football, Saturday Park Runs, golf, cake, chocolate etc. to give myself the best chance of success.

If you would be kind enough to donate whatever you can I'd really appreciate it. But, more importantly, you'll be helping change the lives of some people that really need your help.
