My Story

Because, of course, there's a blog.

Like a lot of people I enjoy watching the marathon on TV every year, and also like a lot of people when watching this I feel inspired to run the marathon myself.

There have been several years I have applied for a place in the ballot, safe in the knowledge that hundreds, thousands of people apply and the chances of being picked are so  infinitesimally small that it's a risk free bet but yet at the same time quenching that desire to take part.

Each year I open the rejection email and feign disappointment at not securing a place, but secretly pleased that I don't have to run 26.2 miles (26.2 miles! Good grief!) and return to my relatively inactive existence forgetting all about the marathon for another year.

Only this year the ballot result was different.

And if I'm doing this (and I am doing this) then somebody may as well be a benefit.  There are a lot of charities, and who to run for was a genuinely tough decision. After long consideration I decided to run for the WWF.  I won't raise as much as some but I would be honoured if you supported my small effort as I progress from a sloth like beast that can haul himself round a parkrun into a cheetah!  (Okay, not a cheetah. Slower than a cheetah, faster then a sloth.  A fast sloth? A tortoise? Damn, where is David Attenborough when you need him?)

Anyway, that's me. And if you would rather sponsor somebody else thats okay. Or if you would prefer to sponsor another charity then that's also okay. Or don't sponsor at all, and that's okay too*

*just don't feel too guilty about the baby pandas.
