My Story
On the day I was accepted back in late October 2022, much to my shock, for the London marathon, I began training from absolute scratch, starting with Couch 2 5k. Please support me in my quest to go from Couch to London Marathon in 6 months, in aid of German Shepherd Rescue, Scotland, helping to look after and rehome, German Shepherd Dogs , right across Scotland.
German Shepherd Rescue Scotland was established in 2008 to re-home German Shepherd dogs throughout Scotland. We are a registered charity, and rely solely on donations to cover the costs of rescuing dogs, these include kennelling, transportation and expensive veterinary fees. Although we cover the whole of Scotland we also work closely with other German Shepherd rescue organisations.
At the rescue we will help every dog we can but we are not dog trainers or trained behaviourists, we are just people who love the breed. Most rescue dogs come to us through no fault of their own, their owners may find themselves in a position that they are no longer able to give the care and attention that the breed requires, this maybe through family breakdown or illness. In some cases dogs may be abandoned by an unscrupulous breeder who can no longer make money from them or they could be cruelty cases. Sometimes a dog may just need re-homing because the owner has been forced to move and their new home is unsuitable for a large dog.
Our aim is to ensure that all rescue dogs are re-homed and are safe, secure and well loved (the right dog for the right home). This process entails a complete assessment of each dog by our experienced volunteers, and includes a call to the veterinary practice the dog is registered with to obtain as much information as possible about the dog. Everything we do is to the best of our capabilities, with the new owner's and the dog's best interests at heart.
This is a HUGE challenge for me, running 4 training sessions every week untnil the big event so anything you can donate to the cause to help these dogs who need a paw up, will helo drive me to the finish line. Thankyou ALL for your kind donations and a slurp and wet face lick from all the dogs you will help.
Saving one Dog will not change the world, but for that one dog, the world will be changed forever.
