My Story

Those who know me, know I don't run, running fitness is completely different to High Intensity fitness.

Events booked in:

10km winter run in February PB 55 mins

26km February Saturn race

Half Marathon in March Hampton Court place   2 hours 14mins

36km 3 hours 56mins

So the question is, why Kidney Care? I have chosen to run for Kidney Care because during the pandemic when most people were worried about wearing a face mask or having to not go inside peoples houses, as a family we went through some life changing information. My father in law, Andy went for a general eye appointment, leading to hospitalisation, to Andy been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease. This is where Andy's life changed completely, his whole lifestyle has had to change, nothing has kept the same prior to the diagnosis; things changed are his food and drink. Andy literally has to monitor everything to make sure it won't affect his stats. Currently monitoring is every 3 months to check his bloods to see how his stats are, and luckily they are stable. It's also not just Andy's life that has changed it is Sue's as well, and I know it brings her stress with food and preparing every day.

So this is my why, our family's life has changed dramatically and I need to bring awareness to a charity which is the UKs leading charity for support to those who suffer from Kidney illnesses.

I'm running the marathon for Andy to show him we all care very much and to show that I'll push myself through a challenge which I thought I'd never do. But knowing his life is a challenging day in and out I need to challenge myself for him.
