My Story

I am fortunate and excited to be running the London Marathon in 2023 for such an important charity.

From 6-16, I experienced controlling and coercive behaviour on a daily basis - controlling where we went, for how long and to who we saw. Eventually, this abuse turned violent. It took myself and my family many years to realise that the non-violent behaviour we experienced for so many years was not normal and not right - a domestic situation nobody should have to live in.

Almost 1 in 4 women in England and Wales (27.6%) aged 16-59 will experience domestic abuse at some point in their lives. This is unacceptable. With support from people like you, Refuge empowers women and children to rebuild their lives, free from violence and fear.

So please sponsor me to help others families gain their freedom and move to a world where domestic violence is not tolerated or ignored.
