I am really excited and proud to run the London Marathon for Girlguiding. Girlguiding has given me a space to challenge myself, learn and grow in place where I feel supported and empowered. It has given me so much and I'm really pleased to be able to give something back.

I am really grateful for any and all your support in taking on this challenge!

My Girlguiding

I am a leader with Powburn Ranger Unit in Edinburgh, until February I held the role of Girlguding’s Assistant Chief Guide and I am currently International Commissioner (Lead Volunteer for International).

Guiding offers now as it did 100 years ago a place to be, to discover yourself, your hopes, dreams and ambitions. It encourages you to stretch to achieve your full potential and in ways that can surprise you, and when girls find their voice they really can take on a role to change the world. I’ve had the honour of experiencing so many of those over my 25 years in guiding. I have visited new places, made new friends, pushed myself out of my comfort zone, and learnt new things about myself and the world.

Because of guiding, I feel able to take on challenges and push myself to achieve things I never thought possible. With my role as Assistant Chief Guide coming to an end, what better final challenge to finish my term with than running the London marathon?

My running

The longest race I have run previously is a half marathon and although I’ve always wanted to run a full marathon, I’ve always felt I would never have the time to train. Now that my role in the Chief Guide Team has come to an end and after being lucky enough to support our runners in person last year, I feel now is the perfect time to take on the marathon, and to raise money and awareness for a charity that is close to my heart!
