My Story

So.. on 23rd April I am putting one foot in front of the other for 26.2 miles to raise money for team dementia uk an amazing charity very very close to my heart!

For those of you who don’t know, my story started in March 2020… when my wonderful, hardworking, funny and incredible Dad was diagnosed with frontemporal lobe dementia.. he was 70..

I knew nothing at all about this cruel disease that has slowly but surely taken a piece away, day by day, of the man that I proudly call my Dad 💙

I wish I had a way of slowing things down.. just a little bit… but sadly just before Christmas, due to his decline, we had to put him into a full-time care home.

My heart broke at just how quickly this all happened..just 2 1/2 years from his diagnosis to the care home.

We have had incredible support from Admiral nurses and Dementia uk throughout - they were on hand with telephone support and face to face visits to help support us as a family… it has been heartbreaking, causing upset, tears, anger and grief.. slowly losing the man we all know and love..💙

I never thought that I could do something like this..

26.2 miles…

But I am and I will..

Every single step for my Dad. 💙
