My Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am raising money for Genesis Trust Bath by running the London Marathon in April, with my goal being £1,500. Come on I know you want to know who's idea this was and what on earth I'm thinking...

First race why a marathon?

Okay so here's the thing. I've never run a race. So a marathon? Many will think I'm crazy over my head. Am I? Most likely yes. Will this stop me? Absolutely not. See this is the thing about me, if I get something in my head that I want, I will stop at nothing to get it done.  Prove to myself and those who don't think it's possible. I told myself I wanted to push myself this year out my comfort zone.

If you know me, you probably think I have a little too much energy for my size. Often referred to as the "energetic friend" or a "squirrel" by my friend Steph, I am known to always be running around living life at 100 miles per hour. I've always loved running, but became quite serious about it over lockdown, starting out small but pushing myself to run everyday for about 30 minutes-an hour. This love I have for running hasn't stopped. Running outside for me is my escape time, putting in my airpods and my running shoes is my happy place, way to relax. And you know what, the silent running nod people give you acknowledging your fellow runners is growing on me. Wowie am I part of this secret club now?

It just clicked to me. London Marathon 2023? You know what. Why not! I want to challenge myself this year and how fricking cool will it be to say "oh yeah the first race I ran was the London Marathon and raised £1.5k for a charity that is very close to me". Yeah. I know. Pretty awesome.

Why Genesis Trust Bath?

Well as a lot of you may, or may not know I studied in Bath. So the city is very close to me, and I called it home for many years with many fond (and some questionable memories). The city is notoriously known for its beauty, breath-taking scenery, cultivated Georgian architecture attracting over 6 million tourists in a year. Thinking of bath that's what comes to mind right? Well before living in the city that's all i saw the city for too, admittedly being rather ignorant.

Seeing the number of rough sleepers and number of vulnerable people completely broke my heart and I knew it was something I wanted to help with in all ways I could. 8 out of the 10 least affordable wards across the West of England are in B&NES, with Bath having 5 of the most socially deprived areas in the UK. Genesis Trust Bath works with local churches and volunteers in the wider community in Bath and the surrounding area to help disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals and families to change their lives.

My very close friend Liv works for Genesis trust Bath, so the charity is something especially close to me, knowing she works so so hard helping people everyday in Bath get back on their feet. I really look up to her perseverance seeing her hard work, as fundraising isn't always the easiest. I knew I wanted to help her and work with the charity in all ways I knew how, ready to take on the challenge not only to prove to myself that I am capable of running the marathon but doing all I can to help raise my goal target of £1,500.

How on earth am I going to raise this £1.5k?

Well firstly, I know you haven't clicked on my page just to read why I'm absurd, you've like me read up on Genesis Trust! So please help donate with anything you can, it will very much be appreciated and you know, motivate me in my somewhat short 4 month journey that I have to pull this out the bag..

Call me wholesome or wifey material (same thing right) I love baking for others. Just baking in general is my little hobby, it's the little things in life. Having my seasonal aprons gets me far too excited than it should, ready to make delicious sweet treats, that let's be real only my dad ends up eating. But he's on a diet right now. Which is why i'm going to host a couple bakesales to raise money for Genesis Trust, starting in one of my offices in Chepstow. With a very friendly receptionist, my warm gooey chocolate brownies and tired office workers- it's a charity jackpot right there.

Also, once you see the photos of my baked goods, you'll probably get hungry and maybe will make you then click on my etsy link to my baked goods that i'm going to start selling in really cute boxes. Shamefully (or unashamedly) being the girl who loves to instagram her coffee art #PSL or cruffin (i know they're a thing) it's in my DNA to make it all instagrammable and aesthetically pleasing right? - And with valentines soon approaching what better way to say I love you than with a box of wholesomeness right there. I told you I know my stuff.

Well you've read this far down so you might as well sponsor me at this point. Oh and you can keep up to date with me probably hating myself and questioning my sanity by the end of the 26.2 miles! Wooo good luck to me and my kitchen
