My Story

I am fortunate enough to work for Deafblind UK and in 2023 I am running the TCS London Marathon in order to fundraise for them.

Deafblindness is one of the loneliest conditions in the world. It is a combination of both sight and hearing loss that impacts a person's ability to communicate, access information and get around. It is estimated that by 2030 there will be 600,000 people in the UK who are deafblind.

Deafblindness comes with a range of extra challenges compared to single sensory loss and many people do not understand the condition, leading to extreme isolation and loneliness for people who are deafblind. The work of Deafblind UK is vital for ensuring that people who are deafblind can live confidently and independently, overcoming the daily barriers and challenges they face. They offer complimentary membership with all services delivered free of charge ranging from wellbeing and emotional support, to digital inclusion and accessible technology, and an award winning Education programme.

Every penny makes a huge difference to the lives of people living with deafblindness and I would be hugely grateful for any donation. If you would like any more information please do not hesitate to contact me. I will upload my tracking number on here on the day so you can follow me along on the app & I'll see you at the finish line!
