My Story

So this is where I explain why I'm running the London Marathon on April 23rd 2023... It's really quite simple. I'm running for Wendy (my cousin) who passed away in 2021. I'm running for Rachel (her daughter) who smashed this same marathon in October '22 raising much needed funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK. For my many friends who have lost their parents to cancer, pancreatic or otherwise, or who are living that experience now. As one friend explained to me in relation to Pancreatic Cancer, 'it's so aggressive, by the time you realise you have it, it can be too late'.

So many people who are close to me have been affected by Pancreatic Cancer, it makes you wonder about the wider population...

In short, I'm running for those above, their families and friends who have been impacted by this disease. I'm running (up to 4 times per week in training) for the researchers so that we can diagnose and treat pancreatic cancer. I'm cross-training (in-between runs) so that team members at PCUK can keep doing their vital roles in promoting and raising awareness.

And if I'm honest, I'm competing in this marathon for myself. Last year was a year of much personal struggle. I feel that training and running for this event will give me much benefit, purpose, identity and confidence. My aim is that whatever I gain on a personal level will translate into much needed cash for PCUK through your generous sponsorship!

Whether you can donate £1 per mile, £10 per mile or simply come and share a smile on the day(!) donations of both time and/or money are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

On behalf of everyone listed above and more so the thousands of people those who are not -

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
