My Story

I last ran the London Marathon in 2021, as part of a team raising much needed funds for Sailors Society. We managed to raise £5,000 collectively. I am doing it again with two aims- to beat my 1st time 4:28:57 and to help raise more funds for Sailors Society.

Founded more than 200 years ago in 1818, they are a Christian charity dedicated to caring for merchant seafarers: the 1.6 million men and women who keep the world’s economy moving.

The volunteers reach out to where seafarers work, on board the huge variety of cargo and cruise ships in many of the world’s key ports, and to their families and communities at home.

Their chaplains and volunteers help hundreds of thousands of seafarers and their families each year. They also extend a hand of friendship, hospitality and pastoral care to everyone they meet, and offer practical help, like phone cards to connect with loved ones at home, the latest newsprint in many languages and access to Wi-Fi hotspots.

They provide a wide spectrum of services – from chaplaincy and spiritual guidance to welfare support, access to education and financial help for those in desperate need
