Graham Hughes
My Story
I'm running the TCS London Marathon in memory of my lovely Dad, Tony Hughes - the gentlest and kindest man you could ever meet.
He was diagnosed with Parkinson's 15 years ago and managed the symptoms very well for over ten of those years, travelling, playing golf and spending time with Mum and the rest of his family and friends. Over the last three years, the symptoms of Parkinsons became more severe and it progressively affected his life and particularly his mobility. However, he always remained cheerful, with a cheeky smile and a twinkle in his eye as he battled so hard against this terrible disease that took his dignity and eventually his life.
He died on 14th December 2022, with me, my brother and my mum by his side.
I want to raise as much money as possible to help find a cure for this cruel disease and support those already affected. I'm not a natural runner - I had my hip replaced a year ago and haven't run properly for years and I can now only run at one speed - slow! I will therefore be walk/running the course as it genuinely will be a huge physical and mental challenge but it is the least I can do in memory of my wonderful Dad.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and if you can support me in any way I would be delighted. I will keep updating this page to let you know how it is going. Thank you xx
