My Story

Those of you who've been stuck in a room (or a castle) with me will know that I tend to be pretty vocal about my emotions. For many of us though, particularly men, conversations about mental health are a taboo. Yet men account for three quarters of all suicides in the UK, particularly those my age and above. 

Samaritans are trying to open that dialogue, to create a safe and understanding space for people to talk about their emotional distress. In a time when many of us are more isolated than ever, they're an essential service.

I'm running this marathon because it's the least I can do to raise awareness and funds for Samaritans' excellent work. It would be fantastic if you can sponsor me in order to ensure that there's always somebody on the other end of the phone when you, or someone just like you, is in need.
