My Story

On Sunday 23rd April this year I will be running the London Marathon to raise money to help homeless and desperate children and young people in Nairobi Kenya.

I can't imagine what it would be like to be homless for even one day but, sadly, this is the reality for around 60,000 children and young people in Nairobi - and the number is growing.  Many of them live in appalling conditions scavenging, begging and picking through rubbish to survive.

International Needs in partnership with Grace Empowerment (a local Kenyan charity) aim to rescue and rehabilitate Kenyan street boys.  They work to reintegrate them with their families and wider society.  GE has already reclaimed 100 young men since it began its mission in 2006.  It now seeks funds to build a rehabilitation centre which will provide a longer and more defined rehab programme for boys while harnessing their skills and talents.  I really believe in the work of IN and this project in particular.  Knowing that my training and efforts on the day will bring hope and help to young men in such desperate circumstances is a wonderful privilege for me.

I'd greatly appreciate any donation you feel able to make - and I promise not to come last!
