My Story

I started running 10 years ago and have hankered after a place in the London Marathon ever since my first half marathon in March 2013.  The thought of raising £2000 for charity seemed like a marathon effort itself but, with 9 ballot place rejections to my name, I decided it was now or never and I was delighted to secure a Gold Bond Place running for Childrens Hospice South West.  I hope that you will help me to support CHSW by sponsoring me to complete the 26.2 miles in London on Sunday 23rd April 2023.

I'm incredibly lucky to have two (now grown up) healthy boys and am ever thankful that they have had no major health or medical issues over the years.  I cannot imagine how devastating it must be to deal with the news that your child is terminally ill.  CHSW supports families with children who have life threatening or limiting conditions across the South West.  The work they carry out makes a tremendous difference to those families and their promise is "to make the most of short and precious lives".   By raising funds for CHSW I hope to do my bit to help families, who have not been as fortunate as I have, to enjoy quality and meaningful times together.

Having recently completed the Bath Half Marathon and Bideford 10 Mile race, my training is going well and I'm slowly beginning to to increase my stamina by introducing hills and longer distances to my training regime.

Whilst daunting, I'm excited about the challenge of running my first marathon and being able to support such a worthwhile charity.

Please support me if you can.
