Jonathan Symcox - in memory of Mark Lowe
Jonathan Symcox
My Story
Growing up, my cousin Mark suffered with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a condition where the skin blisters easily.
I remember him turning up at our house covered in bandages after coming off his bike that morning - and he still wanted to play football! He endured many battles, and I never saw him without a smile on his face.
One of my abiding memories is of my family running a half-marathon in Mansfield to raise money for DEBRA. And my dad limping to the finish line after injuring his knee partway through.
Sadly, our Mark passed away 20 years ago following a battle with leukemia. My Auntie Di, who also suffers from EB, continues to receive support from the charity.
It is an honour to run the London Marathon in memory of my cousin, in support of my Auntie and also for Mark's sister, my cousin Emma, and her family.
