My Story

Hello! I am taking on the TCS London Marathon in 2023 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

On the 9th Feb 2011 my family and I received the tragic news that my brother Pte Conrad Lewis of the Parachute Regiment had been shot and killed while serving on Op Herrick 13. As a family we were devastated but we are also a strong resilient unit, who were luckily helped by a wide range of excellent military and charitable organisations. One of which was SSAFA, who ensured we were ok as a family as they do with so many bereaved families and soldiers suffering after a conflict.

Fast forward 12 years and I am delighted to be running the marathon for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is a trusted source of practical, emotional, and financial support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. In 2021 our trained teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 66,000 people, from Second World War veterans to those who have served in more recent conflicts, or currently serving (both regulars and reserves), and their families.

SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. And we are here for that person and their family, any time they need us and in any way they need us.
