My Story
In March 2021, my dad was diagnosed with Dementia. Lockdown was on and off and the support and activities normally available were very limited. The decline we saw was rapid. And a little over a year later he passed away.
I have ran for many charities but this run means the world to me and is THE most important of them all. Not only has it been a dream of mine to run the London marathon... but there is so much meaning to it now that I am running in memory of my dad... The marathon will be held a year on from his passing.
My father did a lot for the community and helped put many kids on the right path or just offered guidance to them. My family and I were lucky that we had that personality in our lives all day, everyday.
Dementia UK is such an amazing charity. No doubt we all know someone who is suffering or are related to or close to someone suffering. They offer support to everyone involved. I cannot explain how hard it is to see a loved one decline so rapidly... especially one being my role model. By donating to this fine charity, let's help Dementia UK do their thing and help those who are diagnosed and those who are caring for them. Everyone involved needs as much help as they can get.
Im so proud to be running for such a great charity and I hope I can do my role model, my legend, my dad proud.
