My Story
This year I will be running the London Marathon to raise money for the National Deaf Children's Society. This will be my first time running the London Marathon and if I'm going to be raising money, I cannot think of a better charity than the NDCS.
My son Ted, who is now 9 years old, was born deaf. This was completely unexpected. Soon after he was born, the NDCS were able to provide advice, guidance and introduce us to other families who had been through similar situations. Their support - along with the support of local audiology and educational services - was invaluable to us. Ted is now able to lead a life where his disability does not define who he is. He dances, plays piano and is able to join in with any activitity a hearing child can.
The input from the NDCS has helped our family immensely but their work is even more important when it comes to vulnerable children and families who do not have the knowledge or resources to advocate for themselves.
The NDCS is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of deaf children and young people in the UK and abroad. They provide support, advice, and resources to families, as well as campaign for the rights of deaf children and young people.
Your donation can make a huge impact on the lives of deaf children and young people. It can help fund support services, provide deaf-friendly resources and technology, and advocate for the rights of deaf children. Your generosity will ensure that deaf children and their families have the support they need to live full and happy lives.
This marathon will be a bit of a slog for me and I have will have trained for six months just to get around! Any donation is appreciated. If you're interested in coming to cheer me on, I will be putting the link on this page so you can track me on the day.
