My Story

Thank you for sponsoring me to run the London Marathon 2023! I am running for Lyme Disease Action (LDA) as this is a cause close to my heart. In fact, it is a disease that can affect anyone who spends time outdoors as it begins with a simple tick bite and can produce painful ongoing symptoms for years. Unfortunately, knowledge about Lyme Disease in this country remains patchy. 

However, LDA is currently committed to funding a major project to define a Core Outcome Set for use in international research. UK University researchers are doing the work, together with an international group of patients, doctors and researchers. The result will mean that trials and studies in the future will record the same outcomes about the patients with Lyme disease, internationally. This will enable studies to be compared and combined - something that is impossible at the moment.

 Attendance by a volunteer at a UK scientific conference on Tick-borne diseases.

 Purchase of about 40 scientific papers fso LDA can keep our knowledge and information updated.

 Funding for a UK researcher to attend an overseas conference and report back to LDA

 Registration for research project website and survey system for www.lymecos.org

The work of a university scientific research staff member for a full month.
