My Story

Earlier this year my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and as a young mum of 4 this was obviously a huge shock for her and our family. All in the space of a few months she has gone through diagnosis and surgery and is currently recovering. Through this whirlwind start to the year, Macmillan have provided her with advise and support in how her and her family can get through this tricky time.

Macmillan have also been there for other members of my close family; with my aunt and uncle also being diagnosed with cancer in 2021 and 2022 and Macmillan provided them with support through their individual journeys of treatment.

Running isn't a new thing for me, I ran (plodded) the London Marathon back in 2019. However since then I have undergone ACL reconstruction during covid and have struggled ever since to get close to being able to even plod a whole parkrun without my knee playing up (or my legs/lungs not playing ball). This year I will be run/walking with my deferred 2020 ballot place but knew I needed a little more motivation to help me get around as the love for running still hasn't resurfaced (even remotely). That is why I have chosen to fundraise for Macmillan, knowing each step will help provide more funds to help other families like my own with the amazing advise they give through these difficult times. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated.
