The 3 Palaces - Scone of Destiny Tour

The 3 Palaces - Scone of Destiny Tour

My Story

Late April 2023. Harvey Heart the Glasgow Hospice mascot has officially retired from athletics. Bowed out in dramatic style at a wet and challenging London Marathon. Framed and resting on the wall of Frank Gilroys hallway, he will forever be grateful for the generosity over the years.  A sincere thank you to all who have been played their part.

The Ringmaster may have retired but the show goes on. The Hospice's need for funds never stops. Fortunately, Team Cy-Run and the Cathcart Pedallers are stepping in once again to pick up Harvey's baton.  The early Team Cy-Run challenges of cycling/running to the start lines of marathons in London and Edinburgh have become a numbers game in recent years. And the welcome addition of the Cathcart Pedallers have certainly swollen the numbers.

Together the teams have conquered the 5 Ferries (2018 - 53 miles) the 3 Bridges (2020 - 57 miles) and the 3 Castles (2022 - 47 miles). On May 13, the team will once again hit the tarmac and take on the little known but much respected 3 Palaces challenge. Starting at Linlithgow Palace, a small group of runners and a big group of cyclists will set out to cross the Forth, make their way to Falkland Palace before finishing at Scone Palace at Perth. Sometimes referred to as the Scone of Destiny Tour, it is a neat 50 mile round trip and a serious challenge for runners and cyclists alike.

The team are looking to add to the funds raised by Harvey at the London Marathon and are delighted to be running/cycling on behalf of the wonderful Glasgow's Hospice. All donations and support are warmly and gratefully received.

In memory of Ida. April 27 2023.
