My Story

I'm running this marathon to show my support for all the inspiring people who never let their visual impairment stop them, especially my mum who does it all and never lets her sight get in the way of anything! 👊❤️

3 generations of my family are diagnosed with Lebers Atrophy of the Optic Nerve. I am lucky in that I can still live a full life: read, play sports and work in a job I love effectively. It does restrict me in some ways: I can't (and never will be able to) drive, writing reports and general work on a computer screen is sometimes difficult and spotting bus numbers is tricky! Not everyone is as lucky as me. My mum's vision is far worse and there are 340,000 people who are registered as blind in the UK.

Watching some of the heroes last year, with visual impairment who ran 26.2 in aid of the RNIB, overcoming not just the many, many miles but also the fact they could not see inspired me to lace up and get going!

The RNIB help people, who are visually impaired or blind, to access the right assistive technologies and give support at work or in education, working towards a world which offers equality for all.

I am so grateful to all my awesome friends and family who are always willing to help me out- giving me lifts, reading things out to me and generally being super supportive. If I can raise some money to ensure others can get support with their visual impairment, then I will be happy!
