My Story
For all of you who know our family, you will know that Great Ormond Street Hospital has played a very important role in our lives, particularly in the past few years.
Our son Xavier has a very rare condition called Macrodactyly, an overgrowth condition which affects his hand, arm and chest area. Xavier has already had multiple operations to try to reduce his arm/hand and has had two fingers amputated. We are at the point now where operating is no longer an option as the fat is in and around his muscles and nerves. The fantastic consultants at Great Ormond Street Hospital are currently looking at a variety of alternative options to support Xavier in the future, including medication still undergoing pioneering research in Great Ormond Street and overseas.
Xavier is one of the lucky ones. With the support of his family, friends and doctors/nurses at GOSH, he is able to live life to the full at the moment. However, through our multiple visits to the hospital, we've seen first hand how incredible the doctors, nurses and other staff at GOSH are with some very ill children.
In April 2023, I will be joining Team GOSH to run the London Marathon. If you could sponsor me and Team GOSH, we would be so, so grateful. By sponsoring me, you will be making an impact in helping GOSH give children like Xavier, and those with far worse conditions, the extraordinary care, expertise and facilities they need.
Thank you,
Lauren x
