My Story

I'm running this marathon to mark my 60th birthday.
Sadly many people are not fortunate to be well enough to do something like this, I am all too aware of this having worked in palliative care for more than 30 years. Most of these have been with our local Sue Ryder hospice, Manorlands  and the associated hospital and community teams. They make an incredible difference to patients and families and only receive a small amount of funding from the nhs so rely on fundraising for their invaluable work

I am also running in memory of Les Pyrah, lovely dad to my colleague Marie Buchan, who manages the Gold Line. Les died in Airedale hospital at the beginning of lockdown, a terrible time when families weren't allowed to visit and relied on hospital staff to provide comfort. Les was also a longtime, generous supporter of Manorlands.

It's a massive undertaking for me, both the training and the event, any support is so very much appreciated. Thankyou.
