My Story

I am running the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 23 April 2023 to raise money for ME Research UK and in memory of my father who died in 2019.  He ran the marathon in 1995.

To acquire the London Classics medal which requires finishing all three classics events, The London Marathon, RideLondon-Essex 100 and Swim Serpentine two-mile swim (completed).

My brother Tim has been affected by ME since the age of 10 (now 44) and despite £2.5 million invested in the global ME Research over 22 years there is still no cure.

ME/CFS is an illness affecting many different parts of the body, and which can last for a long time in some people.  The main symptoms are Intense fatigue and a feeling of being unwell (post-exertional malaise) that is not improved by, and be worse after physical or mental effort.  Pain in the muscles or joints.  Problem in the stomach or intestine.  Flu-Like symptons.  Difficulty sleeping.  Memory or concentration problems (cognitive dysfunction) or Brain fog.

The primary aim of ME Research UK is to fund high-quality biomedical research into the cause, consequences and treatment of ME.  ME Research UK believe that only through high-quality research can ME be understood and a cure found, and fund a growing number of scientists in the UK and worldwide.

Thank you very much for your kind donation.  It really means a lot to me, my brother Tim and ME Research UK.
