My Story

I am running my third London Marathon this year, raising money for a charity very important to me: St Clare Hospice.

I ran my first London Marathon to raise money for St Clare Hospice to give something back for the wonderful end of life care they gave to my mum, Anne Nicholas to make sure she was comfortable and able to pass away in her own home as she wanted.

I had never been a runner before my mum died, but with a very important reason to run, I managed to complete the London Marathon in 2019. And then I was hooked on both running, and raising money for charity whilst doing so. In 2021 I ran the London Marathon again, this time for Hospice UK, who support hospices throughout the UK.

And I am delighted to be running my third marathon for the charity that gave me the original purpose to put myself through 26.2 miles in the first place!

I really appreciate any support you can give me in raising my £2000 target (and hopefully more!) It genuinely helps to motivate me on a cold and dark January morning to get out to train, and of course on the day itself when it is painful to carry on running.

And, more importantly, all of the money raised goes directly to St Clare to carry on offering amazing palliative care to people of all ages like they did for my mum, both at the hospice and at home. As you may know, with limited NHS funding, hospices like St Clare need to raise around 60% of their costs each year to provide their vital services.

I will post updates and all of my runs through Strava here. Thanks for your support
