My Story

I am fundraising for Sarah's Rural Library Fund in memory of my sister Sarah Heery, a librarian and book lover.

My family set up this charity in 2011 in Sarah's name to celebrate and support the work of an incredible community of volunteer rural librarians in the Andes of Northern Peru. Indigenous farmers have been educating their community for over 50 years through a network of volunteers who exchange books between remote communities at altitudes of up to 4000m.

My marathon is about the same distance that the volunteers will walk to exchange books - but they are walking at altitude with a heavy bag of books!

Please support me to help bring books, education and literacy to the indigenous communities of Cajamarca, Peru.

Thank you
