My Story

My father sadly passed away in April 2021,

For those who know me, you know how much my father meant to me, and how much he inspired me.

For those who dont, Mervyn was born deaf and went blind later in life. He was funny and had a genuine love for life, he never let his disabilities get him down.  Even when he went blind he was always wanting to be outside and keep active.

It was his spirit that inspired me to run. I have been running for over a year I have found it great for my mental health, I started with the couch to 5K plan and now love running.

In 2022 I ran 2 half marathons and kept up a regime of running on average three times a week, I can often be found running around the canals of east london and mile end park run.

When I saw the date of the 2023 London Marathon landed on the two year anniversary of my fathers passing I thought I have to run this, what a fitting tribute to my dad.

The profile image is a photobooth portrait of my father laughing.

The banner image is of my father and I near the end of his life, still smilling with that smile that I miss.

I am raising money for Deaf Blind UK a charity that helped Mervyn in his life with the hope that every penny raised will support this charity to help someone like him.
