Domico Fights for Sight
My Story
On April 23rd I will be running the London Marathon. This race has been on my list of events to take part in since I started my athletic journey. Even more importantly if I had the chance to run I wanted to represent a charity that I felt a genuine connection to. The charity I chose to represent was Team Fight for Sight. They are a charity that is pioneers in the areas of vision loss and glaucoma research. Creating a future that allows all the ability to see!
My connection to Team Fight for Sight is inspired by the journeys of family members who have suffered with sight loss. In particular my Grandfather 'Sonny'. A man with the biggest heart and friendliest personality. Who I witness suffer from the effects sight loss can cause. His day to day life was limited causing him to suffer from depression and anxiety. But even on rough days I could get a laugh out of him and I cherished our special guided walks together. Our family worked together to create a loving environment that was comfortable for him. Since my grandfather's passing I have seen glaucoma and sight impairment effect various other family members.
My goal is to raise funds so that Team Fight for Sight can push towards a world where nobody is limited by compromised vision. I hope to run these 26.2 miles in memory of my Grandfather and all those who these funds could have or will benefit in the future.
