My Story

One in eight babies are born prematurely - that's a higher percentage of babies born in the UK that are premature than people who enter the ballot for the London Marathon actually getting a place!

Just like getting a place in the marathon being told that your babies are coming three months ahead of schedule is scary and daunting and you don't know how you'll ever get through it.

Just like getting a place in the marathon you need support to get you through it and that is where the Ickle Pickles come in.  Since 2009, the Ickle Pickles children’s charity has been raising money for the intensive care equipment that treats these babies and helps to keep them alive....  Equipment such as incubators, ventilators and phototherapy lights that are vital for giving these babies the best fighting chance of not only surviving but thriving

Our Ickle Pickles, Jack and Isabella, are now happy and healthy almost 6 year olds but being born so early, so small and so ill, our story could easily be very different.  Seeing them grow from the babies in the pictures above to where they are now is almost unbelievable So it is with thanks to the Ickle Pickles and QA Hospital Portsmouth that I am running the 2023 TCS London Marathon.

Please donate whatever you can, it all goes back to help families have happy stories like ours!

Thank you (and don't forget to check the gift aid box!)
