My Story
I am running the London Marathon to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK. I have chosen this charity in memory of my Uncle, Joe Rooney. He is a much missed husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. I am also running it for my amazing Aunty Pat, Uncle Joe's sister, who has also been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year. More funding is needed for research to help improve the survival rate and treatment.
In the UK around 10,000 new cases of pancreatic cancer are diagnosed each year and it has the lowest survival rate of all common cancers - only about 5% of those who are diagnosed survive for 5 years or more.
I will be using this critically important fund raising as motivation during the 42.2km run.
Any donation is hugely appreciated. Thank you.
