My Story
I started running in 2016 and have not stopped. Four half marathons and numerous 10ks under my belt, this is my biggest challenge yet. 26.2 miles is a bloody long way to run.
I am running for Pancreatic Cancer UK because the diagnosis for this disease comes too late for most people. Including my beloved friend Malcolm, my much missed creative collaborator Charlotte and the amazing Vanessa whom I adore and had the honour of serving alongside on the Manx Care Board. This is for them and for their loved ones, especially Phil, Tim, Lucia and Rach.
I want to raise a LOT of money. If I am running that far, the least I can do is raise a lot of cash and stop others from going the heartbreak of such a devastatingly diagnosis. I think it has to be a minimum of £200 per mile? So we can raise over £5,000.
I am also doing this for every 50 year old who thinks she can't. Every mum who thinks there isn't time. Every woman who works full time and doesn't have enough time. And for me. Because I am 50, have arthritis, am a mum, works more than full time and had major knee surgery two years ago. I need to feel physically strong to be mentally strong. Anything is possible with enough practice.
if you can spare some money I will be forever grateful. And my approach to running is 'it is just one step in front of another' so even £1 will make a difference. Thank You
