My Story

Unfortunately, and worryingly, increasing numbers of young people are inactive and have mental health issues. I strongly believe in the physical and mental health benefits that sport and physical activity provides to young people, and that sport and physical activity should be accessible to all young people in the UK, regardless of their backgrounds.

I am lucky to have had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sports as a child and teenager; sport has remained a big part of my adult life. I participate in sport, I watch sport, I read about sport, I talk to friends, family and work colleagues about sport, I support (and provide a Dad taxi service for) my 13-year-old twin daughters’ in their sporting adventures and I am part of the coaching team for an U14’s girls grassroots football team.

But sadly, and especially with the current cost of living challenges, not all young people have the opportunity to try and take part in sport.

This is why I am running the 2023 London marathon for Youth Sport Trust.  YST’s vision is to create ‘a future where every child enjoys the life-changing benefits of play and sport.’ Your donations are very much appreciated by myself and by Youth Sport Trust and will keep me motivated in my training.
