My Story

Those who know me know I am partially sighted. More specifically I am blind in my right eye, and recently had to stop driving due to blind spots in my left eye (holes in my retina) as well as myopic degeneration - SO in a few years I may be blind and might need the services of a guide dog!!! But the good news is I decided if I can't drive I'll run instead. This is my first marathon, but am thankful to all the people that are helping me train and encouraging me to get out of bed at 530am 5 mornings a week!

I recently watched a Disney+ documentary series called 'Pick of the Litter' which follows a litter of pups through training to become guide dogs - right to meeting their blind partners in the last episode. The training was so hard not all of the litter made the programme and had to have a 'career change'! The work of the volunteers and discipline of the dogs is amazing, and such a life changing gift to those who receive the dogs.

I hope I never need a guide dog, but I so admire the supporting work and hope that if i do ever need one I can get a greyhound that can run and speed me up!!
