My Story

Anyone who's ever cared for a loved one or has suffered from cancer themselves will know the difference a Macmillan Nurse can make to their lives.

After an incredibly difficult few years for healthcare workers, hospital and hospice beds are at such a premium. With more people than ever wanting to be treated from their own home, Macmillan Nurses are spread far too thinly amongst communities and individuals who desperately need their help.

A few year's ago my family were impacted by this awful disease and Macmillan enabled my Grandpa to remain in his lovely home, as was his wishes, throughout his illness.  They provided equipment, gave us as his carers both practical and emotional support and just generally helped to turn what was an awful few months into something that over the years we could look back on positively with many cherished memories.

That's why I have decided to try and raise both awareness and some much needed funds by running the London Marathon in an attempt to ensure that a family, or hopefully families, can receive the gift of a Macmillan Nurse to support the individual themselves suffering from cancer and also their wider family and friends.
