Tracey Cheung's 2023 London Marathon

My Story

That's right - I will be 'running' the London Marathon. Of all challenges I have ever stepped up to over the years, I have decided to sign up to the London Marathon. This will be the most gruelling event to date, not with the training but actually completing the marathon itself.

I took up running over covid and have enjoyed it on and off. Not my favourite thing in the world but I think secretly I enjoy it,, else why would I continue to run and more importantly why did I sign up!

I will be raising money for the Oasis Charitable Trust. For 35 years Oasis has been helping to build community where everyone can thrive. They work to end disadvantage and create opportunity for all, providing education, housing, health, justice, youth and family support. Oasis helps families transform their lives into ones that are safe and full of opportunity.

So, here we go! New kit purchased, spent a small fortune on running trainers, running lights, gels and pretty much everything that will get me through. I have been training every week (so far - 4 weeks in), in all weathers (including 35mph winds on the Southend coast, rain and sun, no doubt there will be a bit of snow over the next few months) and in all different parts of the UK, fitting it in when I've been away with work. It's a bit challenge juggling training with a very busy full time role.

If anyone wants to follow me on my progress, I am on Strava and all my runs are logged. Over the next few months, I will be needing some encouragement and maybe some telling off if I miss a run, especially coming into the dark winter months. If anyone has any tips, I'd welcome these also!

Now enough from me and over to you, hopefully you'll be able to support me and this amazing charity and hit my target before I hit the marathon in April 2023! Please don't forget to hit the gift aid button when you donate if it applies. Thank you!
