My Story

In late January this year, I was lucky enough to be offered a place in the London Marathon through Brian's work.  Back then, I was still recovering from Covid and my marathon training has been somewhat delayed as a result.  However in the last 6 weeks or so, I've been feeling a huge amount better and I'm determined to complete the London Marathon next Sunday, April 23rd, and raise some much needed funds for Eczema Outreach Support - a charity that supports over 4000 children across the UK and their families, but is based here in Linlithgow.  Sarah and I have been volunteering for them since September 2022 and have loved being part of such a friendly team providing information, understanding and valuable support to children with eczema and their families.

As a child, I struggled to manage my eczema effectively and know first hand how isolating it can be for a young person with a skin condition,  as well as the emotional impact it can have and the resultant toll it can take on mental health.

Eczema Outreach Support provide a wide range of services:

  • Supporting children and families with the emotional and practical aspects of coping with eczema
  • Providing a virtual 'community' for children and young people, helping them to realise they are not alone, and encouraging them to take an active, age appropriate role in managing their treatment plan
  • Raising awareness and understanding, and advocating for those with eczema with Health Care Professionals, politicians and in schools
  • Contributing to eczema research and consultations, e.g.  the Scottish Government consultation on school uniform

We would be delighted if you could make a donation towards this valuable work.
