My Story

I’m super excited to announce that I will be running the TCS London Marathon 2023 for Bart’s City Life Saver (BCLS).

BCLS is a charity created by Barts Medical School, through which doctors and medical students teach individuals CPR and other methods to save lives in emergencies. The knowledge of how to perform CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) could be the difference between someone's life and death in, which in many cases, may be a matter of just a few seconds or minutes.

CPR can double the chances of someone surviving. In fact, in parts of Europe where CPR is widely taught, survival rates of one in four have been reported compared to only one in ten in the UK.

BCLS aims to transform people to become active lifesavers rather than being passive bystanders. This incredible charity has been running for over 25 years now, providing courses in Basic Life Support as well as educating people on how to use a defibrillator. I am so grateful to be working with a charity that has had such a positive impact in the community around me, with a cause that I’m so passionate about.

In addition to representing the amazing work that BCLS does, I’m also using this experience as an opportunity to push myself like never before. If you know me – you know how obsessed I am with running... Running for me is meditation – it is my access to check-in with myself, to forget all my worries and it contributes immensely towards my mental health. Completing a marathon has been on the bucket list for years and I’m so excited to finally be taking part in one. I’ll be posting regular updates from my training runs and fundraising activities with BCLS to show you how passionate I am about this cause and why you should donate to it.

I would be so grateful for any support and contributions towards my fundraising campaign for BCLS to highlight the important work they are doing for the community. Looking forward to the next 2 months of training!

Thank you,

Utkarsh
